Boeing has named Kelly Ortberg, the former head of aerospace supplier Rockwell Collins, as its new chief executive, as it struggles to overcome a series of challenges relating to its safety record and supply chains.
Ortberg, 64, will succeed chief executive Dave Calhoun on August 8. Calhoun said in March he would step down by the end of the year.
Board chair Steven Mollenkopf, who lead the search for Calhoun’s replacement, said Kelly was “an experienced leader who is deeply respected in the aerospace industry, with a well-earned reputation for building strong teams and running complex engineering and manufacturing companies”.
