BEIJING (Reuters) – Police in southern China have detained some staff at China Evergrande (HK:) Group’s wealth management unit, suggesting a brand new investigation that might add to the property large’s woes.
“Recently, public security organs took criminal compulsory measures against Du and other suspected criminals at Evergrande Financial Wealth Management Co.,” Shenzhen metropolis police stated in a social media assertion on Saturday evening.
During protests by disgruntled traders at Evergrande’s Shenzhen headquarters in 2021, Du Liang was recognized by staff as basic supervisor and authorized consultant of Evergrande’s wealth management division.
Reuters couldn’t affirm that Du was amongst these detained, and the police assertion didn’t specify the variety of individuals detained, the costs or the date they had been taken into custody.
China Evergrande didn’t instantly reply to a request for touch upon Sunday outdoors of regular enterprise hours.
The police stated the investigation into the monetary management unit was ongoing and urged traders to report any additional monetary crimes.
