(Reuters) – Russia struck the Kremenchuk oil refinery in the central Poltava area of Ukraine in an in a single day drone attack, inflicting a hearth, Governor Dmytro Lunin mentioned on Wednesday.
Refinery operations have been quickly stopped, he mentioned on the Telegram messaging app, including that there was no details about casualties.
“Last night, Russians repeatedly attacked Poltava region. Our air defence system did a good job against enemy UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles),” he mentioned.
The refinery has been attacked repeatedly by Russia because it invaded Ukraine final 12 months.
Ukraine’s air defence programs shot down 17 out of 24 drones that Russia launched on Ukraine in a single day, the army mentioned.
