Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the fell 0.64%, while the index declined 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which rose 7.57% or 182.40 points to trade at 2,592.35 at the close. Meanwhile, HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) added 1.95% or 36.95 points to end at 1,928.95 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) was up 1.71% or 29.20 points to 1,740.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:), which fell 2.64% or 16.30 points to trade at 601.10 at the close. Bharat Electronics Ltd (NS:) declined 2.45% or 7.15 points to end at 284.90 and Trent Ltd (NS:) was down 2.30% or 163.95 points to 6,954.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.30% to 1,916.20, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.16% to settle at 1,731.70 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 0.77% to close at 960.85.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.94% to 736.00 in late trade, JSW Steel Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.65% to settle at 898.00 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.57% to 3,258.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1776 to 762 and 147 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2495 fell and 1433 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.53% to 13.97.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.26% or 6.81 to $2,625.09 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.21% or 0.15 to hit $70.45 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.16 to trade at $73.63 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 85.52, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 89.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 107.70.
