BENGALURU (Reuters) – Israel’s Tower Semiconductor (NASDAQ:) has submitted a proposal to India’s authorities to construct an $8 billion chipmaking facility within the South Asian nation, nationwide day by day Indian Express reported on Sunday.
Tower, in search of authorities incentives for its plan, is seeking to manufacture 65 nanometre and 40 nanometre chips in India, the report stated.
The firm and India’s IT ministry didn’t instantly reply to requests for remark.
Chip manufacturing is a key plank of Modi’s enterprise agenda, however preliminary bids to supply $10 billion in incentives to the business have floundered, with some proposals stalled or cancelled.
