(TYO:) added 6.20% or 217.00 points to end at 3,718.00 and IHI Corp. (TYO:) was up 5.40% or 415.00 points to 8,095.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TOTO Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 12.61% or 621.00 points to trade at 4,303.00 at the close. Tokuyama Corp. (TYO:) declined 3.68% or 100.50 points to end at 2,630.00 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 1.74% or 137.00 points to 7,718.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2770 to 830 and 247 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 19.54% to 25.86.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.19% or 0.13 to $67.25 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.20% or 0.14 to hit $70.86 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.36% or 9.95 to trade at $2,765.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.21% to 152.96, while EUR/JPY fell 0.26% to 165.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.18.
