Thousands of people’s travel plans have been disrupted on Friday as airlines were forced to cancel flights due to the government shutdown.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued an emergency order on Thursday, mandating a 10% reduction in flights at 40 of the busiest airports in the US.

Air traffic controllers have been working without pay since the shutdown began. After 38 days, more of them are calling off sick, leading to staffing shortages.

Business Insider produced a map showing the number of flights canceled at each of the 40 airports as of 6 a.m. ET on Friday, using data from the aviation analytics firm Cirium.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport experienced the highest number of cancellations, with 76. It’s the world’s busiest airport and Delta Air Lines’ main hub.

It is closely followed by Chicago O’Hare and Denver International Airports, both of which had 66 cancellations, per Cirium. Both airports are United Airlines hubs, while O’Hare also has a major American Airlines presence.

You can hover over each icon to view the name of the airport and the number of flights canceled there on Monday, according to Cirium’s data.

Regional and other domestic flights are the most impacted. The FAA said it did not require a reduction in international flights.

A few cancellations may not be related to the FAA’s emergency order. For example, Air New Zealand’s flight from Houston Intercontinental to Auckland, New Zealand, and Swiss Air Lines from Los Angeles International to Zurich.

Hundreds of flights have been canceled due to the mandate.

Data from FlightAware showed that 202 flights within, from, or into the US were canceled on Thursday. On Friday, there were over 820.

The number of canceled flights is expected to increase over the coming days, unless the shutdown is resolved.

That’s because the FAA’s order starts with reducing the number of flights by 4%, ramping up to 10% by November 14.

Cirium’s data showed that 3% of flights were canceled on Friday.

Most airlines have waivers in place allowing customers to change or cancel their flights during this period.

The FAA also said that airlines are required to give full refunds. Carriers may also try to rebook passengers on alternative routes to reach their destinations.
