Millions of people in the U.S. are running out of time to decide whether to enroll in Obamacare plans with exponentially higher premiums in 2026 — and Monday is the last day to do so for coverage that begins Jan. 1.
For people who are covered by Affordable Care Act health-insurance plans, premiums are going up by
144% on average in 2026, since many of the subsidies that helped lower costs are expiring at the end of the year. In some instances, consumers are seeing their premiums and deductibles double, or more, in 2026 for the same plans they had in 2025.
