    • The Trump phone was announced in June and originally set to be released in August.
    • Now, the company’s customer service says the phone won’t be shipped until the end of January.
    • They also said the delay is partly related to the recent government shutdown.

You won’t be able to record any New Year’s Eve festivities on a Trump phone.

Though Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump — the president’s two oldest sons — initially said that the gold-colored smartphone would come out in August, a Trump Mobile customer service representative told Business Insider that the phone won’t be shipped until the end of January 2026, a delay they partially attributed to the recent government shutdown. The development was first reported by the Financial Times.

The brothers first announced Trump Mobile, the line of Trump-branded smartphones, on June 16, the 10-year anniversary of President Donald Trump’s first presidential campaign launch. The $499 gold-colored T1 smartphone largely resembles modern Android devices, and was originally advertised as being made in the US — drawing questions from the tech community on how the company would hit that price point without relying on foreign part or supply chains.

Within days of the launch, the “MADE IN THE USA” wording was removed from the Trump Mobile website. The phone is now simply described as “brought to life right here in the USA” and made with “American hands.” Trump has previously threatened Apple with tariffs if the company doesn’t shift iPhone manufacturing to the US, though some think that fully recreating the production domestically is nearly impossible.

Trump Mobile is also offering the “47 Plan,” which would provide services like unlimited texting, calling, and data, roadside assistance, and even tele-health services, for $47.45 per month — a reference to Trump’s status as both the 45th and 47th president of the United States.

Amid its missed launch window, the company has also started selling secondhand phones from Samsung and Apple for between $369 and $629.

Meanwhile, Trump Mobile’s X account has lain dormant for four months — the last post the company made was on August 27.

Despite the delay in the release, Trump Mobile is still accepting pre-orders for $100, with the remaining $399 charged when the phone finally arrives.
