The Kansas City Chiefs survived a grueling 33-30 brawl against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, grinding out a victory that went straight down to the final second of overtime.
Harrison Butker predictably split the uprights to give KC a 30-27 lead in extra time, but Indy stubbornly refused to throw in the towel.
For a tame four quarters, action rocketed in overtime, notably when Colts QB Daniel Jones connected with Laquon Treadwell on a 48-yard bomb deep into Chiefs territory, setting up a game-tying field goal by Spencer Shrader to make it 30-30.

Butker ended the chaos on the following drive, drilling a 40-yard game-winner as time expired in extra time.
Following the loss, Daniel Jones fell to an abysmal 1-16 in career primetime starts, and he hasn’t tasted a night-game victory since 2022 when he played for New York.
Kansas City couldn’t put away the Colts with ease, but they found a way. While Indianapolis searches for answers in 2026, Kansas City is proving the dynasty magic remains very much intact.
Patrick Mahomes carved up Indy, completing 32-of-47 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns. Hand-wringing over his mobility headlined the opener against Denver, but Mahomes proved he can dismantle a secondary strictly from the pocket.
“We didn’t do exactly what we wanted to do,” Mahomes said postgame, while lauding his team’s resilience.

Across the sideline, Jones posted an efficient line in defeat for Indy, finishing 22-of-31 for 210 yards, one touchdown and an interception.
Targeting Travis Kelce early and often paid dividends, as the veteran tight end poured in nine catches for 101 yards and a touchdown for KC. Kenneth Walker III chewed up turf on the ground, rushing 24 times for 117 yards.
Naturally, Taylor Swift was in the suite alongside her mother, Andrea, and set the internet on fire by flashing her ring after Kelce scored Kansas City’s first touchdown.

Jonathan Taylor was an absolute workhorse for Indianapolis, proving impervious to Steve Spagnuolo’s defense while racking up 132 total yards (92 rushing on 24 carries, four catches for 40 yards) and two touchdowns.

On the injury front, Colts wideout Alec Pierce was forced to leave the game with a heel issue, though initial X-rays came back negative, with further evaluation scheduled for Monday.
Despite falling short, the Colts continue to show a pulse under head coach Shane Steichen, even as general manager Chris Ballard sits on an increasingly scorching hot seat at 0-2.
