XRP News: $1.49B Unlock Leaves Net Supply Unclear | Invesloan.com

Ripple is back in the news after releasing 1 billion XRP from escrow in four rapid transactions valued at $1.49 billion, with XRP testing the $1.50 level. The release is a substantial gross supply event.

The transactions, identified in the primary evidence as occurring on October 1, comprised 400 million, 300 million, 200 million, and 100 million XRP. For traders tracking XRP price, the immediate technical tension is clear: the token is pressing against resistance near $1.50 while the net supply impact remains unconfirmed.

    RIPPLE UNLOCKS 1 BILLION XRP

Ripple has now unlocked a total of 1B ripple:native (~$1.49B) from escrow across four transactions:

    · 400M ripple:native
    · 300M ripple:native
    · 200M ripple:native
    · 100M ripple:native

The release corresponds to Ripple’s monthly escrow cycle, under which up to 1 billion XRP can become available. Ripple’s official explanation of the XRP escrow system describes the program as a way to make the supply more predictable, with unused XRP placed into new escrow contracts.

The scheduled nature of a release can make it relevant to liquidity expectations without making its market effect predetermined.

What Gross Unlock Does Not Show?

Ripple’s 2017 explanation says the company placed 55 billion XRP, or 55% of the possible supply, into escrow, with up to 1 billion scheduled for release each month. The mechanism limits the amount that can be released under the schedule.

That framework leaves several steps between an unlock and market selling pressure. Tokens can be unlocked and remain under Ripple’s control, be allocated for operational or other uses, or be returned to escrow.

Historical reporting cited in supplementary research describes substantial re-escrowing in previous monthly cycles. The distinction between gross unlocks and net tokens deployed is central to the Ripple escrow debate, and the next relevant evidence would be on-ledger movements showing how much is re-escrowed or otherwise transferred.

That makes the news number a measure of XRP made available, not a verified measure of new market supply. XRP supply conditions can inform the broader supply-and-demand picture, but they do not resolve the disposition of this specific tranche.

XRP tests $1.50 as Four-Hour Momentum Stays Weak After The Unlock News

XRP is in a bearish four-hour structure, with the 50-period EMA near $1.50 capping price. The MACD showed a death cross, while the RSI at 44.56 remained neutral rather than deeply oversold. That combination points to weakening momentum.

The Bollinger Bands are placed near-term resistance around $1.52 and support near $1.47. The report also identified a broader support area around $1.47–$1.50, with the 200-period EMA near $1.41 and deeper support spanning roughly $1.41–$1.45. These levels frame the current XRP support and resistance structure: price is testing the upper boundary of a nearby support-resistance zone while facing the 50-period average.

A hold in the $1.47–$1.50 area would leave the immediate setup intact and avoid confirming a move toward deeper support. If XRP remains capped near $1.50 and loses roughly $1.47, the $1.41–$1.45 region becomes the next area identified by the source. Conversely, a move above approximately $1.52 would challenge the immediate bearish reading.

The next signal is not the gross unlock itself but the net amount Ripple keeps available after the release. Until the tokens’ subsequent treatment is confirmed, the event establishes a scheduled supply change, not a billion-XRP sell order.

In a wider crypto market context, XRP’s ability to hold support while the $1.50 EMA caps price is the clearer near-term test; the outlook around XRP’s $1.50 price level remains conditional on both that chart structure and evidence of net deployment.
