XRP News: RLUSD Settlement Comes to Cross River Fintechs | Invesloan.com

Big news for XRP as Cross River is integrating Ripple’s U.S.-dollar-backed RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger into its proprietary Core Operating System. This is giving eligible fintech customers access to RLUSD payments through a single banking API.

The move places an onchain settlement option alongside conventional payment rails inside a banking platform. Announced last night, the partnership adds RLUSD as another payment rail for fintechs using Cross River’s infrastructure. Access is limited by geography, and the company says services are currently available only in limited states.

We’re excited to announce that we’re partnering with @Ripple to expand our stablecoin optionality and integrate RLUSD into our banking core infrastructure, with support for transactions on the XRP Ledger.

Onchain Settlement Joins for Payment Rails

Cross River describes the integration as a way to bring blockchain-based payments into the regulated U.S. financial system. Its platform connects regulated financial services with blockchain payment networks, allowing fintech customers to access RLUSD through the same banking API used for ACH, wire, and real-time payments.

The practical case is settlement flexibility. Cross River and Ripple say the added rail can give payment issuers and acquirers another option for intraday settlement and reduce settlement latency, while supporting cross-border payments and treasury movement around the clock.

RLUSD joins Cross River’s banking API as an added settlement rail for fintechs. Good news for XRP holders?

RLUSD is being added to Cross River’s Core Operating System, with support for transactions on the public XRP Ledger (XRPL). Customers can access the stablecoin through one API connection without deploying blockchain infrastructure themselves, according to the announcement.

The functionality includes moving between U.S. dollars and RLUSD, settling cross-border payments and treasury movement, and using the stablecoin for settlement. ACH, wires, and real-time payments remain accessible through the same banking platform and API, making RLUSD an additional rail rather than a replacement for existing methods.

Cross River says transactions on the XRPL settle in three to five seconds, cost a fraction of a cent, and can move 24/7. The company also cites more than $1.3 trillion in value settled on the ledger to date; these are figures in the announcement, not independently verified metrics presented with supporting methodology.

The integration combines traditional payment access with stablecoin programmability and near-instant settlement in a single platform. It may lower the technical barrier for fintechs seeking an XRPL-based payment option.

XRP Ledger-Cross River Availability Remains Limited, with No News on Timetable

Cross River presents itself as a regulated banking infrastructure provider, but the announcement does not identify a specific regulatory approval for this RLUSD integration.

The company says customers can access RLUSD through the API, while also qualifying that services are currently available only in limited states. The release does not specify which states are covered or when availability might expand.

The next measurable signal will be adoption: customer launches, payment volumes, and the extent to which fintechs use RLUSD for settlement rather than simply having the option available. Cross River has announced the integration, but has not provided a broader rollout schedule.
