Bitcoin ETF Records $260 Million Outflows, Led by Fidelity and BlackRock | Invesloan.com

US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $261.4 million in net outflows on October 14, led by Fidelity’s FBTC with $152.7 million withdrawn and BlackRock’s IBIT with $110.9 million. Bitcoin was trading near $83,700 before the rebound, leaving price action and ETF demand pointed in the same direction.

FBTC and IBIT together lost $263.6 million, more than the $261.4 million net outflow across the group. Bitwise’s BITB recorded a $2.2 million inflow, offsetting part of those withdrawals; the remaining funds were roughly flat in aggregate, not necessarily exactly unchanged individually.

ETF flows track creations and redemptions, and redemptions can require a fund to sell some underlying Bitcoin. That creates potential spot-market selling pressure.

The daily sequence was sharply uneven: the funds attracted $175.7 million on October 13, while October 7 saw nearly $487 million in outflows. A one-day swing from inflows to redemptions argues for watching successive readings rather than treating one session as proof of a durable change in institutional positioning.

The retreat was not limited to Bitcoin products: spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $130 million in net outflows on October 14. Simultaneous withdrawals across the two major crypto ETF categories are consistent with broader caution.

Scale provides an important counterweight. Since their January 2024 launch, US spot Bitcoin ETFs have accumulated more than $54 billion in net inflows and held approximately $100 billion to $107 billion in assets as of mid-October, putting the latest withdrawal well below 1% of that asset base.

Bitcoin has dropped 3% to around $81,000, putting downside support near $80,000–$80,500 in focus. A break below this zone could expose BTC to further selling pressure, while any rebound toward $82,000–$83,000 may face resistance from buyers who entered at higher prices. Reclaiming $83,000 would be an early sign that bullish momentum is returning.

For traders, the key question is whether fresh spot demand can stabilize the market. A recovery accompanied by renewed Bitcoin ETF inflows would provide stronger evidence of buying interest.

However, if BTC rebounds while ETF outflows continue, the move could prove fragile as other market participants absorb the selling pressure.

The next round of ETF-flow data will help determine whether the October 14 outflows were a one-day setback or the start of a longer withdrawal trend. A return to sustained net inflows would suggest institutional buyers are stepping back in, while repeated redemptions from Bitcoin and Ether ETFs could signal continued caution across the crypto market.

U.S. inflation data and changing Federal Reserve rate expectations could also influence Bitcoin’s next move. These remain potential catalysts rather than confirmed reasons for the latest ETF withdrawals.

With Bitcoin now trading near $81,000 after a 3% decline, the next flow readings could offer a clearer picture of whether institutional demand is returning or selling pressure is building.
