Charles Hoskinson’s Midnight crypto network has recorded its busiest day yet, processing 49,229 transactions on October 25. That was more than double the 20,445 transactions processed by privacy-focused rival Zcash on the same day.

The milestone brings Midnight’s cumulative mainnet transactions to 954,434, marking another development for Hoskinson’s push into programmable blockchain privacy. The network aims to protect sensitive information while allowing applications to verify data without exposing everything publicly.

However, Midnight’s rising activity still faces a bigger test. Sustained usage, application growth, and demand for its NIGHT token will determine whether the network can turn early momentum into lasting adoption.

Midnight Transactions Outpace Zcash as Hoskinson Pushes Programmable Privacy for Crypto

Midnight’s latest record puts its network activity ahead of Zcash on a daily transaction basis. Zcash has spent years building a privacy-focused crypto, while Midnight targets a wider range of applications through programmable privacy.

Midnight is not simply trying to hide payments. Its zero-knowledge technology allows developers to build applications that verify information without revealing the underlying data.

Midnight processed 49,229 crypto transactions in a day, beating Zcash by 2.4x as Charles Hoskinson’s privacy-focused network gains traction.

That opens potential use cases across decentralized finance, business records, and identity verification. Users could prove eligibility or financial information without exposing unnecessary personal details.

Midnight’s architecture also separates its NIGHT token from the resource used to execute transactions. Holding NIGHT generates DUST, which powers transactions and smart-contract execution.

According to Midnight’s official documentation, DUST is non-transferable and replenishes over time. This design separates long-term token ownership from routine network costs.

Bitcoin Hyper Brings Another Approach to Blockchain Utility

Midnight is not the only project exploring how blockchain infrastructure can support applications beyond basic transfers. Bitcoin Hyper is taking a different route, focusing on expanding Bitcoin’s functionality through a proposed Layer 2 network.

The project plans to combine Bitcoin settlement with Solana Virtual Machine technology, targeting faster transactions and support for decentralized applications. Its proposed ecosystem includes decentralized finance tools and other applications built around Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Hyper has already raised more than $33.2 million in its presale, with HYPER priced at $0.0137, less than 2 cents each.

The project’s pitch centers on bringing more activity to Bitcoin rather than developing privacy infrastructure. Its proposed architecture uses a bridge and a Layer 2 execution environment to support applications beyond Bitcoin’s traditional payment functionality.

Both projects reflect a common theme: blockchain networks need useful applications to sustain activity over time. Midnight is pursuing programmable privacy, while Bitcoin Hyper is targeting Bitcoin scalability and application development.
