 - Celebrities like Cynthia Erivo, Charlie Hunnam, and Elle Fanning attended the fundraising event.
 - Some looked stunning in elegant ensembles, while others fell short with casual looks.

November began with a night of glamour in the City of Angels.
Celebrities flocked to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Saturday night to attend the LACMA Art + Film Gala. The event serves as both a red-carpet gathering and a fundraising event for the museum.
Many attendees, including “Wicked” star Cynthia Erivo, arrived in stunning ensembles that helped them stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately, a few others missed the mark with their looks.
Here are the best and worst outfits of the night.
Elle Fanning brought the glamour in a baby-blue gown and matching fur coat.

                                          Taylor Hill/Getty images

Gucci, which sponsors the LACMA Art + Film Gala, designed her vibrant ensemble. It included a long-sleeved gown made from lace and a floor-length coat crafted from faux fur.
She paired the look with a diamond necklace from Cartier and an updo hairstyle.
Emma Roberts looked chic, but she was a tad underdressed for the event.

                                          Gilbert Flores/Getty Images

She also wore Gucci in the form of an off-white tweed minidress embellished with pearlescent sequins. For accessories, she chose white tights, tan pumps, a silver clutch, and diamond jewelry.
Though the retro outfit looked great on the actor, it was too casual for the flashy event.
Cynthia Erivo took a fashion risk, and it paid off.

                                          Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

The “Wicked” star arrived at the event in a white gown designed by Schiaparelli.
The off-the-shoulder piece was adorned with a gray tulle cape and silver pieces that resembled realistic eyes. She accessorized with silver heels and pearl earrings.
Kristen Wiig wore a sheer gown that could’ve benefited from more accessories.

                                          Gilbert Flores/Getty Images

Rodarte designed her strapless dress, which was sheer and made from black lace. She wore only black underwear and pointed pumps beneath it.
The look was daring, but still quite simple. Flashier diamond jewelry and a red lip could have made the bold outfit a more striking statement.
Damson Idris looked sharp in a gray suit and emerald brooch.

                                          Gilbert Flores/Getty Images

The actor wore a gray suit from Prada for the fundraising event. The set was perfectly tailored to him, featuring pleated trousers and a double-breasted jacket.
He wore it with lighter gray shoes, a blue button-up shirt, and an emerald brooch from his own luxury jewelry brand, Didris.
Charlie Hunnam wore a black ensemble that needed more tailoring.

                                          Gilbert Flores/Getty Images

Hunnam, who stars in “Monster: The Ed Gein Story,” attended the event in a black Gucci look.
Although his black horsebit belt evoked glamour, his trousers were too long, creating a messy look. His velvet, monogrammed top was also too casual for the event.
Angela Bassett glimmered in green sparkles.

                                          Gilbert Flores/Getty Images

She wore a long-sleeved Gucci dress adorned with sequins and sparkling fringe.
Not only did it move with her on the red carpet, but it also caught the light and complemented her diamond and citrine earrings. Bassett completed the look with a long ponytail.
There was too much going on with Kerry Washington’s multicolored gown.

                                          Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Thom Browne designed her short-sleeved dress, which unfortunately had too many contrasting elements.
Its bodice was crafted from strips of pink and green satin, while its pleated skirt was made from a checked fabric with a solid black lining.
The same silhouette in a solid color or two would have looked better.
Demi Moore donned one of the most daring looks of the night.

                                          Gilbert Flores/Getty Images

Her Gucci halter gown was sheer, creating the illusion that she was fully naked beneath the mesh material.
It was also colorful and covered from top to bottom in vibrant sequins arranged in the shapes of various flowers.
Salma Hayek wore a green gown that didn’t match her accessories.

                                          Gilbert Flores/Getty Images

Her sequined dress was form-fitting, featuring a floor-length skirt, a V-shaped neckline, and bell sleeves.
Its silhouette complemented the actor’s frame, but it didn’t match her statement accessories. She carried a black satin purse and wore a thick necklace made from diamonds and rubies.
Had she chosen to forgo the latter, the outfit would’ve been more impactful.
Zoey Deutch donned a simple dress that was underwhelming.

                                          Gilbert Flores/Getty Images

Her cream-colored gown was strapless and shapeless, making it appear unfinished as she entered the event.
She also wore a gold cuff across her arm, which didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the outfit.
