Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark inched closer to a one-game suspension on Wednesday night when she picked up her seventh technical foul of the season against the Connecticut Sun.

With the Fever leading 95-67 toward the end of the third quarter, Olivia Nelson-Ododa was called for a foul. Saniya Rivers, Nelson-Ododa’s teammate, began to jaw at Clark. The WNBA sharpshooter appeared to tell Rivers to check out the scoreboard and before things became feistier, the officials gave them both technical fouls.

“She said she was locking me up, so I said, ‘Scoreboard,’ and the ref didn’t like that,” Clark said after the game, via ESPN.

Clark was adamant that she wasn’t going to keep her aggressive playing style at bay just because she faces a one-game suspension with her next technical foul.

“I think just continue to try to control your emotions the best you can. That intensity and that fire is what makes me, me, but also knowing my team needs me and finding a good balance of that. But I don’t think I’m going to be playing with that in the back of my head,” she said.

    Indiana won the game, 123-88.

Clark had 27 points and 11 assists in 27 minutes. She was 8-of-13 from the field and made five 3-pointers.

She is currently tied for fourth in scoring, averaging 21 points per game. She’s also second in assists per game, averaging 7.9. Indiana improved to 17-10 with the win and sits in fifth place in the WNBA standings.
