Far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker and Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed mocked the idea of longtime Democrats like James Carville leaving the party because of them on Monday.

Ahead of the Democratic primary on Tuesday, Piker spoke with El-Sayed in a video for his channel. The two began by discussing the “full-on freakout” caused by Piker choosing to campaign for El-Sayed, leading to people like Carville attacking their own party.

“Now James Carville is talking about leaving the party,” Piker said. “We got [Pennsylvania Sen.] John Fetterman, James Carville fantasizing about leaving the party. I’m like, you’re sweetening the deal. That was really interesting.”

Piker was referring to comments made by Carville on Fox News’ “The Sunday Briefing” regarding Piker’s rise in prominence within the Democratic Party as he campaigned for socialist candidates.

“I can’t sit here and tell you for certain how this is going to turn out, but the one thing I can tell you for certain, Hasan Piker and James Carville are not going to be in the same political party. One of us is going to leave. It might even be me,” Carville told Fox News, adding that an “overwhelming majority” of Democrats agreed with him.

El-Sayed was similarly dismissive of Carville’s comments, suggesting Carville himself was responsible for party shifts during the Clinton administration.

“That was really interesting. Like our party, if you look at what happened with [President Donald] Trump, you had a whole bunch of center-right people realize that they had no home in the party that they destroyed. And then they all came to our party and tried to tell us what our party ought to be. And then you think about like James Carville, I’m like, bro, you architected the complete right-wing ascent to neoliberalism in ’96,” El-Sayed said.

Piker added, “This state is a swing state because of the machinations of the Clinton era of politics.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Carville for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

Piker drew widespread criticism for making several controversial statements, including that America “deserved” 9/11 and that Hamas was “a thousand times better” than Israel.

Despite his comments, El-Sayed has repeatedly defended campaigning with Piker.
