The regular season hasn’t started yet, but Jayden Daniels is already being blitzed.
The New York Mets joined the masses on the internet who have made fun of the Washington Commanders star quarterback for sending a cease-and-desist letter earlier this month to his alma mater, LSU, over the use of his name, image and likeness.
After the Mets’ 4-1 win over the Washington Nationals, who, like the Commanders, are in the DMV area, the Mets took a shot at Daniels on X.

“Stopped at 4 out of respect for Jayden Daniels,” the Mets wrote in the viral post.
Daniels, who won the Heisman Trophy with LSU in 2023, and his camp reportedly felt that head coach Lane Kiffin allowing DJ Pickett to wear his No. 5 jersey was “disrespectful.” The former LSU star quarterback posted a statement on social media Thursday afternoon about the situation.
“I have been locked in on training camp and that’s been my number one focus. I have a lot of gratitude for my time at LSU and I’m proud of what my teammates and I accomplished there,” Daniels posted. “Obviously there are issues to be worked out between my team and LSU and my hope is that it will get done privately.”

“My sole personal focus is on Commanders’ football. I realize the business of football is unique and I trust this can all be resolved.”
While Daniels tried to quell the situation, social media has only come after him as hard as any pass rush he will face this season.
StubHub, a ticketing website, said in a post on X that it will no longer offer tickets in groups of five out of respect for Daniels.

The former LSU star can only hope that by the time the regular season begins, the only blitz he is facing is on the field and not online.
