A truck driver within the UK give up his job minutes after discovering out that he and his spouse had each gained the lottery.
Tony Hedley, 68, and his spouse Christine each had profitable tickets price £166,666, or round $210,000, within the People’s Postcode Lottery, the BBC reported.
Hedley, from Newcastle, was in his truck when he acquired the decision telling him he had gained.
Minutes after receiving the information, Hedley known as his employer and informed them: “I’m not coming in tomorrow, and this is my last shift.
“I received again to the bottom, I dropped the trailer off, and my supervisor stated, ‘you fortunate sod,’ shook my hand and wished me all the most effective.”
Hedley, who has driven a truck for 42 years, said, per The Independent: “I’ve been working all my life, and I feel it is time I had a break. When they revealed the envelope, it was simply surreal.”
The couple plan to use their winnings to renovate their bathroom and garden and enjoy a vacation to Scotland.
They also intend to use the money to help their family, which includes two children, four grandchildren, and their great-grandchild, who is soon to be born.
Christine Hedley, 65, a teaching assistant, said it was surreal when lottery workers arrived with the winning ticket.
“I could not imagine it. I simply cried,” she said. “It’s nonetheless unbelievable; I get up within the morning and suppose, ‘did I dream that?”
“It’s beautiful to know that we will simply calm down and dwell life for us now,” she stated.
